Outlook

BI Norwegian Business School is well equipped to face ever increasing international competition. The organisation has demonstrated a considerable ability to adapt over a number of years. The business has been prioritised geographically and academically.

The Board recognises that all the structural changes have been demanding in terms of organisational agility. This was also amplified through the uncommonly large number of improvement and efficiency projects that were initiated in 2013. The Board is optimistic with a view toward realising gains from these projects in 2014. The Board looks forward to the new management's effort to build on the good results achieved in recent years.

A solid profit affords the latitude to strengthen the learning environment, which will benefit both students and employees.

BI has worked with dedication to get where it is today. A solid profit affords the latitude to strengthen the learning environment, which will benefit both students and employees. Nevertheless, comfortable finances cannot be taken for granted. In this connection, the Board wants to emphasise that this work must move forward at full steam in order to further develop BI.

A high rate of change in the private and public sectors creates an increased need for lifelong learning. BI has focused heavily on developing robust Executive activities with both open and customised solutions, from brief courses to complete master programmes. At the same time, the Executive activities are a necessary source of income for supporting BI's academic endeavours. The students also bring experience-based skills, which provide BI with important impulses for teaching and research.

BI has itself taken clear steps to develop the school into one of Europe's leading business schools.

The Board is eagerly following the debate on the future of the higher education sector. Many voices are calling on the Government to take action to make the sector more competitive than what is the case today. The Board agrees with this perspective. BI has itself taken clear steps to develop the school into one of Europe's leading business schools. Such a position can only be achieved through professional environments with much academic clout.

The Board wants to thank all employees for their hard work in 2013. The Board also wants to praise the collaboration with students and BI's partners. BI's robust finances and strong position provide a basis for optimism as regards future operations and development.
