Programmes and students

Never before have so many students applied to BI Norwegian Business School. There was a total of 11 100 applicants to bachelor and master programmes at BI in the autumn of 2013.

The year's admissions to full-time programmes was the second best showing for BI ever, as a total of 4550 new students were accepted into bachelor and master programmes. The result is especially favourable in light of the decision to close down the regional campuses BI Drammen and BI Kristiansand, as well as the slimmed-down, concentrated programme portfolio at both bachelor and master levels.

In 2013, the Board of Trustees decided to discontinue the Master of Science programme in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This field of study will instead be covered by dedicated courses under other programmes. The bachelor programmes PR and Communication Management and Market Communication were merged into a new programme; PR and Market Communication.

BI Norwegian Business School's English language bachelor programme, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), was established in 2003 and celebrated its tenth anniversary in May. The number of international students increases each year, and in 2013, BI received applications from a total of 143 countries. This summer, 75 students from 18 nations participated in BI's four-week long Summer Programme.

The international network collaboration Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management (QTEM) started up in the autumn of 2013. Six European and two Asian business schools are collaborating on this master network, which is an opportunity for the most ambitious students. The students work closely with partners from the business community.

Over the past two years, the percentage of managers and senior managers at BI's Executive programmes has increased from 33 % to 37 %.

In 2013, BI prioritised an effort to improve its students' study progression. The implemented measures included courses in study strategies, an expanded academic advisory service, as well as courses and guidance in study management.

The lease of the ground floor in the D block at BI Oslo in 2013 has opened up new space for the students. BI has invested in offices for the student association, a coffee shop/café and a multipurpose area that can be used for study and group work during examination periods.

In addition to our headquarters, BI Oslo at Nydalen, BI also has regional campuses in Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger, whereas BI Drammen and BI Kristiansand are in the process of closing down. BI also cooperates with and is present at Fudan University in Shanghai, China.
